LEAS-ESSENTIALS

Presented by: Catherine F. Downing, Esq., Law Offices of Catherine F. Downing & Associates

How well do you understand the terms of your Lease or Occupancy Agreement? Do you know the difference between a pet and an assistance animal?  When can you get into your apartments without getting into trouble? Who exactly do you have living in your units? Do you want to know more?  Then this program is for you!

A multi-part discussion about the basics of the landlord resident relationship, presented in separate stand-alone sessions, using plain “non-legalese” language and real-life examples.  You are welcome to attend one or all of these sessions and you can expect to walk away with a thorough understanding of the basics of these issues, which can help you improve your relationship with your residents.

3.GETTING ONTO THE FIELD: ENTRY AND ACCESS ISSUES

Open the door and open yourself to liability. How do you balance the need to maintain your unit with the resident’s right to live peacefully in their home? In this session, we will discuss when and how you, your employees, your contractors, your financing employees and your resident’s friends, family and service providers can gain access to the unit without running into difficulties.  We will touch on issues of access when the resident dies or is no longer residing in the unit due to disabilities.
