In 2020\, the 2800 202 PRACs and their 120\,000 units\nbecame eligible to convert to RAD. Conversions of PRACs are picking up the pace in 2022. Congress\nhas now approved RAD conversions for the 28\,000 units in 811 PRACS and HUD is working out the\ndetails for those unique projects. Learn or refresh on what RAD is and how it changes the properties\nthat convert. This voluntary “preservation” program is helping to stop the loss of affordable housing. As \nBaby-Boomers engage with health and social services sector it will be important for \naging services providers to deliver services that are respectful and culturally \ncompetent. Many aging services providers see no need to discuss LGBT aging issues \nbecause: They dont want to discriminate. Or They dont want to make people feel \nuncomfortable. While well-intentioned\, it leaves many LGBT older-adults feeling that \nthey must hide who they are\, in order to take advantage of health\, housing\, and social \nservice programs. \nWebinar Participants Will: \n1. Enhance their understanding of the importance of presventing LGBTQ older-adults from having to re-enter the closet in their golden years.\n2. Increase awareness and empathy amongst aging services providers about the issues and needs of LGBT older-adults.\n3. Identify strategies designed to help aging services providers to continue to do the things they do very well already\, while enhancing their ability to extend this same great care and service to LGBT older-adults. \n  \nSPEAKER BIO \nRuben Rivera-Jackman\, MNPL\, speaker\, trainer and nonprofit leadership consultant\, has an accomplished 25+ year career as a nonprofit leader\, with practical experience in\, and solid understanding of\, a diverse range of management\, program development and service delivery applications. In February 2017\, Ruben accepted a new opportunity to serve as the new Director of Resident Services for the Senior Housing Assistance Group (SHAG)\, one of the largest non-profit affordable housing providers in the Puget Sound area. SHAG manages 41 LIHTC communities serving over 5\,000 older-adult households. He previously served for 12 years as a Senor Resident Services Manager at the King County Housing Authority. Mr. Rivera-Jackman was the recipient of the 2011 American Association of Service Coordinators (AASC).

DESCRIPTION:Trainer:  Deb Piltch  \nRegister Here  \nThe Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) course is a comprehensive program offered by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) for property management staff in affordable developments\, including LIHTC. It is the only occupancy course that covers the HUD 4350.3 Handbook in its entirety\, with specific handbook references cited in the margins of the course text. \nThe two and a half day program is composed of occupancy focused instruction. Participants will receive a voucher from their hosting AHMA to take the CPO exam independently on their own at their home office\, or property. Students that successfully pass the exam will receive a CPO certificate and lapel pin. All CPOs will be listed in an online national certification directory.
