SUMMARY:Death of Tenant NEAHMA Webinar
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \n  \nPresenter: Frank Flynn\, Flynn Law Group \nThe purpose of this seminar is to illustrate the difficult aspects associated with the death of a tenant. When a resident passes away the role of a Resident Service Coordinator and Property Manager can become confusing and even complicated. Though it is tempting to help a grieving family in any way possible\, the way you handle such a situation may expose the landlord to issues of liability that you may not have anticipated; it is important to be aware of the legal implications for the property\, Management Company or owner. During this seminar we will review the requirements of the probate system\, estate laws\, HUD regulations\, different routes to recover possession of the unit\, as well as risk management.

SUMMARY:NEAHMA MA Quarterly Meeting-
DESCRIPTION:How the Substance Abuse\, Opioid & Heroin Addiction Epidemic affect our Housing Communities \nREGISTER HERE\nPresenter: Frank Flynn\, Flynn Law Group \nThis new interactive and informative training will review current and emerging trends in addiction. For example\, public health data reveals that opioid overdose occurs in all communities across the state – rural\, urban\, rich\, poor and among all age groups and ethnicity. The increasing availability of prescription opioid painkillers contributes dramatically to the problem\, both by causing addiction and by offering easy access\, with consumers able to obtain drugs from friends\, family members\, or medical providers. This presentation will also provide information about other drugs including designer drugs like Molly etc.\, as well as the identification of paraphernalia for drugs of abuse. Join us as we review recent developments\, examine the complicated effects in housing settings and gain an understanding of what we can and should do about it.

SUMMARY:8 Hour RPP Lead Safety Certification Course-Glastonbury\, CT
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \n  \nThis one day course will consist of the 8 Hour Certification training based on the EPA Lead Safety for Renovation\, Repair and Painting. \nFor individuals seeking new individual Certified Renovator certifications under EPA Renovate\, Repair and Painting (RRP) regulation\, or if their initial certification has been expired for more than one year\,  8-Hour Initial training is required.\nThe traditional renovation work you do now can create significant lead-dust hazards if lead-based paint is present and disturbed.\nThe leaded dust generated by traditional renovation work can cause lead poisoning in children. It can also poison pregnant women\, yourself\, your children\, other workers and even pets. Practical changes in work practices can minimize and contain dust. The use of lead-safe work practices makes the job safer and reduces your liability exposure.\nEPA’s Renovation\, Repair and Painting Final Rule (40 CFR 745) regulations now require that renovations conducted for compensation\, must be performed by Certified Firms using Certified Renovators. Renovation firms that wish to work in pre-1978 homes and child-occupied facilities must apply to EPA and pay a fee in order to become certified. Renovators seeking to become Certified Renovators must successfully complete a EPA-accredited renovator course. This course is the EPA model course for Certified Renovators and has been enhanced and approved to meet all requirements for RRP certification.\nThis course will teach you how to comply with the EPA Renovation\, Repair and Painting Rules and the HUD Lead Safe Housing Rule\, and how to perform lead-safe work practices safely and effectively. \nGary Kellner\, President\nHarvard Environmental Services \nGary has been a MA master-licensed lead inspector for 22 years and for the last 10+ years has been delivering the 8 hour Moderate Risk Deleader and the Lead-Safe Renovator – Supervisor Initial training seminars throughout MA.  ARS has partnered with Gary as their lead instructor for employee and customer training.g.

SUMMARY:Service Programs on a Shoestring Webinar
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nPresenter- Gwen Volk\, In Focus \nNot everyone is lucky enough to have professional service coordinator on staff. Nor can all properties afford to hire an outside service contractor to coordinate their activities. Tax credit properties and bond properties generally come with a requirement for programs to enrich the quality of life of residents but generally do not have budgets that provide much to invest in such things. Take it from someone whose properties won two national awards- largely for their outstanding service programs – without benefit of large budgets or professional service coordination: You too can do quality programs on a shoestring.
