SUMMARY:Challenges and Solutions for Conducting Annual Recertifications For HUD and Tax Credit Purposes During the COVID-19 Pandemic Webinar - Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs
DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nTrainers:  Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs \nThe obligation to conduct annual recertifications for sites funded through HUD’s Multi-Family Housing Programs and/or Tax Credits continues during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The question becomes how to effectively complete annual recertifications\, including required information security measures\, while maintaining the health and safety of staff and residents and complying with required and recommended social distancing initiatives.   Whether your site office has remained open or staff is mainly working from home with a skeleton crew at the office\, everyone is facing challenges to fulfill the obligation to conduct annual recertifications. \nDuring this webinar we will discuss HUD’s Office of Multi-Family Housing’s continuously updated guidance on how to stay compliant\, as well as guidance from state monitoring agencies in New England for the tax credit program.  We will also provide practical solutions for completing the annual recertification process regardless of your current business operations.  Topics will include conducting interviews\, information security (including EIV data for HUD sites)\, acceptable forms of verification and how to obtain them\, electronic vs. “wet” signatures\, and what it means to use “extenuating circumstances” to complete an annual certification for HUD purposes. \n1.5 Hour Webinar 1/2 hour Q&A \n  \n$109 Members \n$189 Non Members \n  \nInterested in BOTH this webinar AND Conducting Interim Certifications for HUD Multi-Family Programs During the COVID-19 Pandemic? \nRegister for the two webinar bundle here:   \nTwo Webinar Registration

SUMMARY:Conducting Interim Certifications For HUD Multi-Family Housing Programs During the COVID-19 Pandemic - Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs
DESCRIPTION:Register Here  \nTrainers:  Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs \nThe obligation to conduct interim certifications for residents at our HUD Multi-Family sites when they experience a change in income isn’t new for us.  However\, many of us are experiencing an unprecedented number of such requests\, while simultaneously needing to significantly alter our business operations in order to maintain the health and safety of staff and residents and comply with required and recommended social distancing initiatives.   So how do we comply with HUD’s Interim Certification processing requirements given the COVID-19 Pandemic? \nDuring this webinar we will begin with a review of our obligation(s) to process interims as described in Chapter 7 of HUD Handbook 4350.3 and discuss HUD’s Office of Multi-Family Housing’s continuously updated guidance on how to stay compliant during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  We will focus on when we must process an interim\, when we may delay processing an interim\, and the timeframe for completing an interim certification.  We will also provide practical solutions for completing interim certifications regardless of your current business operations.  Topics will include conducting interviews\, information security (including EIV data)\, acceptable forms of verification and how to obtain them\, how to calculate the change in income\, electronic vs. “wet” signatures\, and what it means to use “extenuating circumstances” to complete an interim certification. \n1.5 Hour webinar 1/2 hour Q&A \n$109 Members \n$189 Non Members \n  \nInterested in BOTH this webinar AND Challenges and Solutions for Conducting Annual Recertifications for HUD and Tax Credit Purposes During the COVID-19 Pandemic? \nRegister for the two webinar bundle here:   \nTwo Webinar Registration

DESCRIPTION:Register Here  \nTrainers:  Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs \nMany people have experienced dramatic changes in their income as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Some people’s income has increased due to the nature of their employment or have temporarily increased as a result. SUMMARY:Fair Housing and the COVID-19 Pandemic Webinar - Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs
DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nTrainers:  Deb Piltch and Heather Staggs \nOur obligations under Federal\, State and local Fair Housing laws haven’t changed during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  So why focus on Fair Housing?  \nDuring the COVID-19 Pandemic: \n\nOur country has seen a dramatic increase in discriminatory incidents and harassment based on national origin\, which raises significant concern regarding how we effectively address such complaints given that some of the tools we would standardly use may not be available to us.\nThe number of incidents of domestic violence have increased\, while our capacity to make external emergency transfers may have decreased.\nWe have had to significantly change our business operations in order to maintain the health and safety of staff and residents and comply with required and recommended social distancing initiatives leaving us potentially vulnerable to allegations of discriminatory treatment.\nMaintenance personnel  face unprecedented challenges in performing their job which raise potential fair housing concerns.\nPeople impacted by the virus are requesting reasonable accommodations\, raising questions about whether they meet the definition of a disability and if so\, whether their request is “reasonable.”\nThe importance of communicating effectively with applicants and residents with limited English proficiency has been heightened.\nThere is a lot of confusion regarding what questions we can legally ask an applicant/resident due to health and safety concerns.\n\nDuring this webinar we will discuss these and other Fair Housing related concerns\, and provide ideas as to how to effectively address them. \n90 Minute Webinar \n30 Minute Q&AQ \n$109 Members \n$189 Non Members \n  \n  \n
