Affordable Housing Coordinator

Well established residential property management company is looking for a seasoned housing specialist to join its Massachusetts organization. This position is an excellent opportunity to further enhance one’s skills in the area of subsidized and affordable/tax credit housing. The right candidate should have a solid track record of 3-5 years experience working at an affordable/tax credit property as a site manager or housing specialist. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills coupled with a desire to assist a diverse resident population. Proficient computer skills and bilingual (English/Spanish) would be beneficial.

This position reports to the Director of Affordable Housing. Following are a list of responsibilities for the position of Affordable Housing Coordinator:

  • Monitor affordable housing regulatory compliance for Section 8, Section 236, Section 202, MRVP, tax credit and 40B apartments
  • Keep current with Fair Housing Regulations
  • Create and/or update tenant selection plans for HUD properties, working with MassHousing to create and/or update tenant selection plans within the guidelines for MassHousing properties
  • Apply for and implement rent increases for Section 8 properties and assist with and implement rent increases for Section 202 properties
  • Assist in the training of newly hired employees at affordable and market properties including Fair Housing Regulations and YARDI training
  • Ensure ongoing training for all affordable housing employees with respect to changes in state and government regulations as well as company policies and procedures
  • Assist affordable properties with the recertification process as needed
  • Fill in at company’s affordable properties as needed
  • Troubleshoot as needed at affordable properties
  • Work with market sites on specific Fair Housing issues as they arise
  • Prepare monthly HAP requests and TRACS files
  • Company and regulatory agencies’ file audits
  • Reasonable Accommodation request processing

Miscellanous Responsibilities:

  • Attain affordable housing designations, i.e. Tax Credit Compliance, National Housing Assistance Professional (NAHP)
  • Help with special projects as needed
